Biography:

  • This is G Nishanth Kumar doing Final MBBS part-2 in Government Medical college, nizamabad from India. I have actively involved in diabetic research projects since 3 years as principal investigator.Due to an underrgraduate student, I can present my work in only few conferences. I got best poster presentation award for my poster in national conference held in our college. I have also selected for summer research fellowship program for my research work on diabetes by Jawaharlal Nehru centre for advanced scientific research. I have presented my work in “international conference on frontiers in chemistry and biology of oligosaccharides-2014”organized by IISER-PUNE.i have completed training project on clinical and laboratory medicine on diabetes and got best presentation award. By attending your conference, I can get a chance to present my research work on diabetes to the professional physicians like you and their by I can get more knowledge in diabetes research.

Abstract:

The study was done for a period of 3 months from May 2017 to July 2017 in which 37 controls and cases were included.

Persons with type II Diabete of age 18 and above as cases &  similar age group as controls in patients are included in the study. Patients with type I diabetes mellitus, chronic diarrhea, impaired renal function, people on diuretics, chronic alcoholics, people with hypomagnesaemia symptoms will be excluded from study. The samples were analysed on semiautoanalyser using ChemChek magnesium kit which is based on Xylidyl Blue with ACTS method and random blood glucose level was measured GOD-POD (glucose oxidation) method.

Abstract:

Institutional based cross-sectional study was conducted from March 01/ 2017 to June 30/2017 at diabetic clinic of TASH. The study participants were all patients with a diagnosis of T2DM on follow up at the clinic during the study period and having a baseline data. Blood samples were collected and Vitamin B12 levels were determined by cobas e411 analyzer by electro chemiluminescence immunoassay. Neuropathy Total Symptom Score-6 questionnaire (NTSS-6 scores) was used to compare severity of PN in both groups. Finally data was entered and analyzed through SPSS version 20 computer software packages.

Serum B12 levels were low in 15 patients (21.1%) on metformin as compared to 2 patients (4.0%) without metformin treatment. Mean B12 level on metformin were found to be

331.58 pg/ml(± 134.48) as compare to those without metformin 482.23pg/ml(± 235.24), the difference was statistically significant with p value 0.000. A strong negative correlation between serum B12 levels and the duration of metformin use (r = -0.608; P = 0.000) was seen.

Title: In vitro Cytotoxicity and Glucose Uptake Activity of Mushroom PLEUROTUS EOUS in Methanol Extract Using L-6 Cell Line
Speaker
Biography:

Shoba is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, New Prince Shri Bhavani Arts and Science College, Affiliated to University of Madras, Chennai, India. She is doing part time Ph.D. and she has 9 years of teaching experience. She has participated in mushroom cultivation training programme, national conferences, and also she presented a paper on Effect of Paddy Straw on the Fruit body Production of Edible Mushroom pleurotus eous in International Seminar Chennai. She has published a paper in International Journals and Asian Journals. She is much interested in Researching in Diabetes and to find novel therapies for Diabetes.

Abstract:

Mushrooms are edible fungi which have been used as an anti-diabetic drug since ancient time. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxicity and antidiabetic effects of methanol extracts, using L6 cell line. No cytotoxicity effects were observed in treated cells up to 6.25mg/ml of Pleurotus eous methanol extract as measured with MTT assay. The results showed that the extract did not confer any cytotoxicity and extract showed better glucose uptake potential. The glucose utilisation in L6 cell lines showed that the methanol extract of Pleurotus eous  mushroom were found to be prominent  over control.
