Track 4:Homeopathic Medicine to Control Diabetes

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which our body’s use of food for production of energy is affected. In diabetics, the pancreas either produces little or no insulin, or the body cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. Due to this, glucose levels rise in the blood, floods into the urine and passes out of the body, making the body lose its main source of fuel. In one national study on diabetes completed in 1989, about 2% of the 12,000 people surveyed in Indian villages were found to be diabetic, and more alarming observation was that half of them did not know that they had diabetes. This infers that there are at least 20 million diabetics in India, which is the highest ever reported number from anywhere in the world. Homeopathy treatment does not target one illness, an organ, a body part or a symptom. Remedies are prescribed based on an assembly of presenting symptoms. Homoeopathy can be used effectively in the treatment of diabetes. Here we mainly concentrate on functioning of the pancreas in efficient insulin production. Homeopathic treatment does not target one illness, an organ, a body part or a symptom. Remedies are prescribed based on an assembly of presenting symptoms.

Track 5:Acupuncture : An Earth to Control Diabetes

Acupuncture is a traditional medicine practiced for thousands of years in China. It involves inserting needles in different areas of the body. This releases chemicals in your brain that can lessen sensitivity to pain. Diabetes is caused primarily by dysfunction of the pancreas. Acupuncture can help in diabetic patients such as lower blood glucose content, lower the release of pancreatic glucagons, increase cell proliferation and neuropeptide Y levels, induce secretion of endogenous beta-endorphin, enhance blood outflow and regulate vascular peripheral resistance, prevent slowing of motor nerve conduction and improve microcirculation and myocardial contractility.

Track 10:Genetics of Diabetes

Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by persistent hyperglycemia. The two most common forms of diabetes are type 1 diabetes (T1D, previously known as insulin dependent diabetes or IDDM) and type 2 diabetes (T2D, previously known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes or NIDDM). Both are caused by a combination of genetic and environmental risk factors. However, there are other rare forms of diabetes that are directly inherited. These include maturity onset diabetes in the young (MODY), and diabetes due to mutations in mitochondrial DNA. A higher risk of developing T1D than unrelated individuals from the general population (approximately 6% vs. <1%, respectively). The genetic factors are involved with the development of the disease. At present, there is evidence that more than 20 regions of the genome may be involved in genetic susceptibility to T1D. T2D is, in part, inherited. Family studies have revealed that first degree relatives of individuals with T2D are about 3 times more likely to develop the disease than individuals without a positive family history of the disease.

Track 12:Risk Factors Related to Diabetes

The risk factors for type 1 diabetes are still being researched. However, having a family member with type 1 diabetes slightly increases the risk of developing the disease. Environmental factors and exposure to some viral infections have also been linked to the risk of developing type 1 diabetes. Several risk factors have been associated with type 2 diabetes and include, Overweight, Physical inactivity, Unhealthy diet.

Track 13:Diabetes Management

Diabetes can be very complicated, As diabetes is a prime risk factor for cardiovascular disease, controlling other risk factors which may give rise to secondary conditions, as well as the diabetes itself, is one of the facets of diabetes management. Checking cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglyceride levels may indicate hyperlipoproteinemia, which may warrant treatment with hypolipidemic drugs. Checking the blood pressure and keeping it within strict limits (using diet and antihypertensive treatment) protects against the retinal, renal and cardiovascular complications of diabetes. Regular follow-up by foot health specialists is encouraged to prevent the development of diabetic foot. Annual eye exams are suggested to monitor for progression of diabetic retinopathy. Both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics can see dramatic effects on their blood sugars through controlling their diet, and some Type 2 diabetics can fully control the disease by dietary modification.

Importance & Scope

Diabetes has increasingly become a lifestyle-related disease as it afflicts young and old. According to WHO Diabetes was estimated to affect 371 million people till the end of 2011in US. Whereas, new figures indicate that the number of people living with diabetes is expected to rise from 371 million in 2012 to 552 million by 2030. This indicates an urgent alarm for its management. As the number of patients grows across the globe, there has never been a stronger and more urgent need for therapeutic measures that arrest the growth of the disease and alleviate its secondary manifestations. In Type 1 diabetes total β-cell loss occurs. In Type 2 diabetes, partial β-cell loss occurs before diagnosis, and the progressive β-cell loss during the life of the patient increases the severity of the disease. This addresses novel therapies for these deficiencies in clinical and preclinical evaluation.

Many International Conferences and Diabetic therapies meetings/ symposium and workshops have been organized on different topics related to the risk factors related to diabetes across the globe such as glucose tolerability conference, diabetes stem cell cure conference, anti-diabetic agents meetings, obesity conferences, weight loss conferences, Islet transplantation international conference, glucose variability conferences etc. Besides that many international events such as diabetes alternative medicines events, insulin pump therapy events, pancreatic dysfunction events, recombinant approaches for diabetes events etc. Targeted Therapy Events have been also taking place in order to find a weapon against fatal diseases like diabetic foot, insulin resistance, glucose tolerability, obesity and to discuss the role of diabetes in cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, risk of cancer and intolerability to cure the wound which will gives a better insight about the associated causes and disease portfolio.

Why Beijing (China)?

The number of people with diabetes in China is estimated to be 1 in 10 out of Chinese adult. Compared with the UK, where diabetes affects about 1 in 20 adults, the state of diabetes in China is alarming. During the 21st Century millions of new cases of diabetes are occurring each year.An accurate figure for diabetes in China is hard to estimate, as many cases are thought to be undiagnosed. China is thought to have edged ahead of India, becoming the country with the highest population of diabetes in the world. Like many other countries, the principal pre-cursor to the development of type 2 diabetes is obesity.

The number of people in China now living with diabetes — over 100 million — is greater than any other country in the world. As of 2013, 1 in 4 people with diabetes worldwide lived in China. Eleven percent of adults in China have diabetes, while 50% have prediabetes, putting them at risk for major health problems such as cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and cancer. Moreover, many people with diabetes remain undiagnosed, untreated, or poorly controlled. Diabetes also poses a large economic threat to China. National healthcare expenses for diabetes rose from 1.96% of national healthcare expenditure in 1983 to 18.2% in 2007.
